Intoto, Ethiopia
Entoto is Full of Willing Workers, but no Opportunities for New Jobs or Sustainable Work
We believe that we can bring new opportunities to Entoto through the founding of new local businesses. Our long term mission is to build a dairy farm that will supplement the shortages of dairy products in Addis Ababa. This will allow Entoto to incorporate their community into this lucrative part of the Ethiopian economy. The farm eggs will be sold by the Entoto women once the farm is up and running. The women know how to sell in the market place, and eggs are vastly lighter products than firewood. The farm will be overseen by Live Out Hope managers, but fully operated by the women of Entoto. And the best part is, the farm will be fully sustainable as their profits will finance livable employee wages, the expansion of the farm, and the growth of other new businesses in the community!
Israel
Israeli Children and Parents Are Suffering from a Language Barrier
Our vision in Israel is for Ethiopian Jewish parents to be able to speak Hebrew and for their children to have the skills to be competitive in the Israeli job market. Our mission is to teach parents how to read, write, and speak basic Hebrew in two years. For their children, our mission is to enroll them in tech literacy classes that will provide basic computer skills all the way up to software development, each with an emphasis on attracting jobs.
Building Schools to Provide Education and Jobs
Building a school in Israel will help solve two problems in the community. Firstly, it will provide jobs in the construction, teachers, and other faculty to work in the school. Secondly, it will provide a place for children to learn computer literacy, and parents to learn the Hebrew language. Along with computer literacy, we want to provide vocational training for trades such as mechanics, electricians, woodworking, and metal working.
Providing these skills will increase the likelihood that these children will be able to attend college, and in the future be competitive in the job market and provide for their families.
