Land very close to Entoto may be available for our use for our small chicken farm!

Biny just returned from his 3rd trip to Ethiopia for another month between September and October, and here’s what he found out!

When Biny touched down in Ethiopia, he pushed to meet with, Mr. Tilahun (our Christian brother in the Mayor’s office) and through him, we were connected with a new government official, Konjit, who governs the area of Entoto called the sub-city Guelele area. She is what you might consider a county official.

After Biny shared Live Out Hope’s mission and vision with Konjit, she was excited to help us. She told us if we could find a piece of suitable land, she would try to acquire it for our use. So, eventually they found land near Entoto village that is around 2,600 feet that she has put in an application for on our behalf for our use.

This piece of land is not big enough to start a dairy farm, but it is a decent size to start a chicken/egg farm! By opening a chicken farm, we can begin creating new revenue for LOH to fund future projects while also hiring our friends in Entoto!

Our next steps are to wait for the state’s application to acquire the deed to this land and be accepted to occupy the land (Not sure who will own this land yet. TBD, I believe). If this land comes through, we will begin building a chicken coop right away. And we will be able to expedite hiring a few of our women to operate the chicken farm and get them out of walking wood to the market!

Biny’s Time with the Entoto women!

Biny got to visit the women of Entoto many times this trip. And there were some sweet meetings. One particular meeting, Biny brought some of his friends to visit, fellowship, and share the gospel! The women were in tears when they got there. They popped some popcorn thinking Bri and Beth were coming, because they knew the Americans liked popcorn! They sang songs together, prayed for one another, and shared stories of encouragement with Biny.

One of the women told Biny that she asked God to give her rest before she died by getting away from this job. And she believes that she will never truly get away from this job, but somehow, she felt that Biny and his friends brought encouragement, joy, and rest that day. She felt God speaking to her spirit, telling her this was the rest she was looking for. God was with her! She will know rest before she dies. We praise God that He sees His children, and speaks to their hearts. He lifts our head and gives us hope forthe future!

Stories from Israel: Preaching in the Prisons

On August 26th, one of our volunteers went to the juvenile prison in Haifa, Israel. He visited some incarcerated Ethiopian Jews, and he got to talk to one of the prisoners who is considered one of the most “tough” and “violent” prisoners about Yeshua. And the prisoner opened up his heart to listen to what he was saying instead of being aggressive.

After listening to our volunteer talk, the prisoner told him that what he said made sense to him and he
wants to hear more. He asked for prayer and to bring him a Bible next time he comes. So, the next visit for our volunteer is going to be bringing a Bible for him and staying in touch. We celebrate this victory for God who calms violent men and softens hearts. Unfortunately, there are no pictures to share. Pray for Live Out Hope and the mission in Israel!
